US destroyer visits Hong Kong on Indo-Pacific deployment

US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) is on a visit to Hong Kong as part of its Indo-Pacific deployment.

The destroyer arrived in Hong Kong on March 27 for a port visit following a period of operations.

Of the range of activities planned, Sterett will visit a nursery school and a secondary school, participating in cultural activities and sports games with students.

Comprised of approximately 300 sailors, Sterett is currently deployed to the Indo-Pacific region in support of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group and its patrol with the 31st Expeditionary Unit.

Sterett last deployed with USS Dewey (DDG 105) in 2017 and operated with regional navies to conduct routine patrols, maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation activities to enhance regional security and stability.
