German combat support ship concludes SNMG2 deployment

German Navy combat support ship EGV Frankfurt am Main has wrapped up its deployment to NATO’s Standing Maritime Group 2 and is now en route to its homeport.

Frankfurt am Main is scheduled to enter Wilhelmshaven on March 29 after spending five and a half months underway.

The ship deployed to SNMG2 in October 2017 after undergoing repairs by German Naval Yards earlier in the year.

During its time with the SNMG2, Frankfurt am Main supported monitoring and patrol activities in the Aegean Sea carried out by SNMG2 in coordination with European border agency Frontex and the maritime authorities of Turkey and Greece.

Once the ship and crew return home, they will enjoy six weeks of rest before heading out for exercise Baltops and the Keel Week engagement.
