BAE Systems gets $34M for USS Pearl Harbor overhaul

The US Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair a $34.1 million contract for the overhaul of USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52).

The contract will see BAE Systems perform a selected restricted availability which will include a combination of maintenance, modernization, and repair of USS Pearl Harbor.

This contract also includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $36.3 million. Pearl Harbor will be repaired in San Diego, California, with works expected to be completed by May 2019.

The Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship recently returned to its San Diego homeport following a seven-month deployment to the Indo-Pacific. Pearl Harbor deployed as part of the America amphibious ready group (ARG). The ARG was spearheaded by the aviation-centric amphibious assault ship USS America which was on its maiden deployment.
