BAE Systems Hawaii gets $14m contract for USS Port Royal repairs

The US Navy Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility has awarded BAE Systems Hawaii, Honolulu, a $14.1 million contract for repair works on the Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Port Royal (CG73).

This modification follows an earlier one, worth $24 million, awarded to the company in August 2017.

The scheduled selected restricted availability (SRA) USS Port Royal is to undergo will allow BAE Systems to conduct structural repairs and alterations to systems.

A focal point of the work is to perform extensive aluminum superstructure repairs and install a reverse-osmosis water purification unit.

Work will be performed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and is expected to be completed by November 2018.

The Pearl Harbor homeported cruiser completed its most recent deployment in March 2017 after operating in the US 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
