Minor fire breaks out aboard Indian Navy frigate INS Shivalik

A fire broke out aboard Indian Navy frigate INS Shivalik while it was docked at naval base Visakhaptnam, Indian media reported on Thursday.

No one was injured in the incident and the damage caused is considered to be minor, according to the reports.

The fire broke out in the engine store room and was extinguished after six hours.

 

The Indian Navy has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

INS Shivalik is the lead ship of a class of three stealth frigates measuring 143 meters in length and displacing up to 6,200 tonnes. The frigates were commissioned into the navy between 2010 a 2012 and all are homeported at Visakhapatnam.
