Iranian frigate crashes at Caspian Sea port: Reuters

Iranian Navy frigate Damawand allided with concrete wave breakers at a Caspian Sea port during adverse weather conditions, Reuters reported Wednesday citing local media.

Six crew members initially fell aboard while two are still missing, the report said.

The collision, which took place at the Bandar-e-Anzali port, is yet to be confirmed by officials.

Damawand is a 95-meter domestically-built vessel belonging to the Moudge-class of frigates which the Iranian Navy officialy refers to as destroyers. Damawand was commissioned in 2013 as the second of seven ships in the class planned to be built for the Iranian Navy.

First photos shared on Twitter confirm the accident but there is still no information on eventual casualties.
