Indian Navy Mig-29K crashes at Goa airport, pilot ejects

An Indian Navy Mig-29K aircraft went off runway during a take off at Goa airport on January 3, an Indian Navy spokesperson confirmed.

The aircraft’s trainee pilot managed to eject before the aircraft crashed and caught fire.

The incident caused delays in civilian arrivals and departures at the Goa airport.

The Indian Navy further said the fire on the aircraft was extinguished completely and the aircraft was rendered safe after removal of fuel onboard.

According to Indian news outlet NDTV, this is the first time the navy has lost an MiG-29 which fly from the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
