German frigate Lübeck gets new captain

Frigate Captain Matthias Schmitt is to transfer command over the German Navy frigate Lübeck to his colleague Christoph Sallermann, the navy said in a statement.

The ceremony will be held at 10:00 A.M. on November 2017.

Frigate Captain Schmitt has been at the helm of the F122 Bremen-class frigate since October 2015.

At this position, he spent more than 200 days at sea on board Lübeck, having sailed more than 35,000 nautical miles.

Frigate Captain Schmitt will become Assistant to the German Military Representative at the NATO/EU in Brussels.

His successor, Frigate Captain Sallermann, previously worked at Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn.

As informed, starting in 2018, a new voyage program for Lübeck is planned. After a single training phase in March, the program might include the exercise Joint Warrior.
