Turkey-hosted multi-national anti-submarine warfare drill kicks off

An anti-submarine warfare exercise hosted by the Turkish Navy kicked off at Aksaz Naval Base on November 4.

Warships from five countries will be training together in the Mediterranean Sea and off the coast of Turkey through November 20.

The exercise is called Dogu Akdeniz-17 and is organized by Turkey every two years.

According to the Romanian Navy, the exercise will be joined by ships from the navies of US, UK, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

The Romanian Navy said it has sent the corvette Contraamiral Horia Macellariu (F-265) to take part in the exercise.
