US aircraft carrier program chief visits India as part of Indo-US carrier tech cooperation

A joint working group set up between the US and India met to help India in the development of its indigenous aircraft carrier met at Naval Air Station INS Hansa in Goa for the fourth time.

Fourteen US delegates, led by Rear Admiral Brian Antonio, Program Executive Officer, Aircraft Carriers and seven Indian officials visited Goa from October 29 to 31.

During their visit the officials witnessed a demonstration of Mig 29K fighter aircraft and spent time onboard Indian Navy aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.

The Indo-US Joint Working Group on Aircraft Carrier Technology Cooperation (JWGACTC) holds periodic meetings for information exchange in the field of aircraft carrier technology under the Indo – US Defence Technology and Trade Initiative.

The latest visit follows reports which said the US government had made a decision to share the technology with India which expressed interest for the technology earlier.
