German WWI submarine found off Belgium

A German World War I submarine has been discovered by researchers in the North Sea, off the coast of West Flanders, Belgium.

The U-boat, believed to be a UB-II submarine, is almost intact 30 meters below the surface.

The exact location of the submarine is being withheld to prevent looting and damaging.

West Flanders governor Carl Decaluwé told media that “the submarine is in such good condition that we reckon all the bodies are still on board.”

In fact, scientists believe that of the 11 submarines which sank in Belgian territorial waters, this one is the best preserved.

Divers are yet to find the submarine’s pennant number which will allow her identification.
