HMS Queen Elizabeth, the first of two new Royal Navy aircraft carriers is entering her future homeport of HM Naval Base Portsmouth for the first time.

The 65,000-tonne carrier is entering Portsmouth after setting sail for sea trials from Scotland’s Rosyth dockyard in June.

More than 700 sailors, led by Commanding Officer Captain Jerry Kyd, and 200 industry contractors sailed with the 65,000-tonne aircraft carrier on her maiden voyage.

Thousands are expected to welcome the carrier into Portsmouth to the sounds of the Royal Marine band on the jetty and fly-pasts by Merlins.
