Royal Saudi Navy fends off attack on oil field, seizes weapon-laden boat – SPA

The Royal Saudi Navy prevented a possible attack on Saudi oil platforms on Friday, June 16, chasing away two and seizing one weapon-laden boat, according to an official Saudi Press Agency report on Monday.

Citing an official source, SPA said three small boats entered Saudi waters in the Arabian Gulf and were headed towards the Marjan oil field.

The boats did not respond to warning shots forcing Saudi naval units to intercept and seize one boat while the other two escaped.

SPA did not specify the registration of the boats saying only that the vessels bore red and white flags.
