Trump announces nominee for Secretary of Navy

U.S. president Donald J. Trump picked Richard V. Spencer as the nominee for the Secretary of the Navy, the White House announced on Friday.

Richard V. Spencer served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1981 after graduating from Rollins College in 1976. He also served as a U.S. Marine Corps Captain, and spent five years on the Defense Business Board, most recently as Vice Chairman.

Spencer most recently served as Managing Partner for Fall Creek Management, LLC, an investment company that supports growing and recently restructured companies.

Spencer is Trump’s second Secretary of the Navy nominee after Philip Bilden, Trump’s first nominee for the role, withdrew himself from consideration, citing privacy and financial sacrifices as the main reason behind the decision.

Sean J. Stackley currently serves as the Secretary of the U.S. Navy.
