According to a report in Irish Times, the sailor was airlifted from a submarine off the Irish Achill Island with injuries to both legs. The submariner was transported to Sligo University Hospital for treatment.
A Royal Navy spokeswoman confirmed the incident adding she could provide no further comments as the Royal Navy does not disclose submarine operations for security reasons.
