Northrop wins potential $812M US Navy LCS gun mission module deal

The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded Northrop Grumman a $68.78 million contract for work on gun mission modules for the navy’s littoral combat ships.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will provide outfitting assembly installation, interim deport level maintenance, engineering support and sustainment of the systems.

This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $812,000,000.

The gun mission modules consist of two 30mm guns and are part of the LCS’ surface warfare (SUW) mission package (MP).

According to the U.S. Navy the surface warfare mission package will begin developmental testing aboard USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) later this year and will culminate in operational testing and initial operational capability in 2018.
