US Navy cruiser pulls into Tallinn, Estonia

U.S. Navy’s guided-missile cruiser USS Hue City (CG 66) parted ways with the USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike group and arrived in Tallinn, Estonia, for a scheduled port visit on February 22.

While in port, Hue City is scheduled to host distinguished military and civilian visitors for an on-board reception dinner. Hue City sailors are scheduled to visit local schools as part of a community relations program (COMREL), as well as host shipboard tours to local students.

“Hue City looks forward to spending time in Estonia supporting our NATO ally,” said Capt. Dan Gillen, Hue City’s commanding officer. “It is essential that we continue to strengthen our working relationships with our allies. This visit also provides a chance for the crew to get out in Tallinn and experience Estonia.”

Following the port visit, Hue City will continue to conduct maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy’s 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWBCSG).

GHWBCSG is made up of the Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8, guided-missile destroyers USS Laboon and USS Truxtun, Danish Navy frigate HDMS Peter Willemoes, and guided-missile cruises USS Philippine Sea and Hue City.
