The U.S. Navy has awarded BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Mayport an $11.3 million contract modification for work on the post shakedown availability (PSA) accomplishment for littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7).
A PSA is accomplished within a period of approximately 10-16 weeks between the time of ship custody transfer to the navy and the shipbuilding and conversion, navy obligation work limiting date.

The Lockheed Martin-built Freedom-variant LCS completed acceptance trials in July, 2016 and was delivered to the U.S. Navy on August 12, 2016. The ship was commissioned on October 22 and started her maiden trip to her new homeport of Mayport, Florida.
Under the PSA contract, BAE Systems will work on the correction of government responsible trial card deficiencies and new work identified between custody transfer and the time of PSA. The company will also carry out engineering changes that were not incorporated during the construction period which are not otherwise the building yard’s responsibility under the ship construction contract.
The PSA will take place in Mayport, Florida, and is expected to be completed by October 2017.
