Thailand’s Bangkok Dock selected British Servowatch to deliver their integrated platform management system (IPMS) for the second River-class design patrol boat currently under construction for the Royal Thai Navy.
The yet unnamed second Krabi-class offshore patrol vessel is being built in Thailand under a teaming agreement with British ship designer BAE Systems.
HTMS Krabi, the lead ship in the class, was delivered to the navy in 2013 while the contract for the second vessel was signed in January 2016.
BAE Systems’ River-class design was also used for the Amazonas-class vessels operated by Brazil. A redesigned version of the River-class with an enlarged flight deck is also being constructed for the Royal Navy. The first of five new OPVs, HMS Forth was launched in 2016. All of the vessels feature the IPMS delivered by Servowatch.
The company’ scope of supply for the Thai contract comprises an IPMS control and monitoring package for the vessel’s propulsion, power generation, HVAC, fire-detection, tank gauging systems and auxiliary services.
