General Dynamics gets $19M for USS John C. Stennis repairs

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. a $19.1 million contract modification for repair and alteration requirements for USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

The repair work will be carried out within the fiscal 2017 CNO planned incremental availability (PIA).

Work will be performed in Bremerton, Washington, and is expected to be completed by August 2017.

USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) returned to its homeport of Bremerton, Washington on August 14, 2016, after a scheduled seven-month deployment to the Indo-Asia-Pacific.

Operating as part of the Great Green Fleet, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and the embarked carrier air wing (CVW) 9 marked a milestone by reaching 5,000 arrested landings during the deployment.

After returning to Bremerton, John C. Stennis also took part in the ceremony that marked the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and Oahu.
