US Navy orders more multi-spectral targeting systems

The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon a $19.2 million contract modification for the delivery of another seven configuration D multi-spectral targeting systems (MTS).

The MTS is an airborne, electro-optic, forward-looking infra-red, turreted sensor package that provides long-range surveillance, high altitude target acquisition, tracking, and range-finding.

The laser detecting-ranging-tracking set developed for use by the U.S. Navy is fielded on the MH-60R and MH-60S maritime helicopter platforms.

Raytheon will perform work on the contract in McKinney, Texas, and is expected to deliver the sensors by December 2018.
