Bechtel gets $303M for work on US Navy’s nuclear propulsion parts

The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded Bechtel Plant Machinery a $303 million contract for naval nuclear propulsion components.

Part of the engineering and construction giant Bechtel Corp, Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is responsible for providing design and manufacturing of nuclear power plant components for installation in submarines and aircraft carriers.

According to the Bechtel, its products and services helped the naval nuclear propulsion program support approximately 80 U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines over a course of 60 years.

Work under the December 27 contract is to be performed in Monroeville, Pennsylvania and Schenectady, New York and has no completion date.

The Department of Defense also noted that it does not provide any additional information on naval nuclear propulsion program contracts.
