Spanish Navy light transport ship returns from UNIFIL mission

Spanish Navy light transport ship Martín Posadillo has returned from the Spanish missions in Lebanon where it was tasked with providing logistic support.

Apart from UNIFIL operations ‘Libre Hidalgo’ and ‘Active Fence’, Martín Posadillo also contributed to the EUNAVFOR MED operation Sophia.

The ship brought back Army and Air Force materiel and during the transit back to Spain, also took part in NATO’s counter-terrorist operation ‘Active Endeavour’ in the Mediterranean Sea.

During its deployment, Martín Posadillo visited the ports of Valencia, Spain, Catania, Italy, Beirut Lebanon, Valetta, Malta and Iskenderun, Turkey.

The Martín Posadillo has a crew of 33 people and is usually tasked with the transfer of Army materiel and equipment to designated operational locations. While the ship officially belongs to the Spanish Army, it is manned by Spanish Navy personnel and is usually stationed in Cartagena Naval Base.
