China’s Poly Technologies and South African Denel team up for naval cooperation

China’s Poly Technologies and South African Denel have entered a cooperation agreement under which the two companies will work together in the South African maritime sector.

The two state-owned companies will join forces and collaborate in areas such as ship repairs, shipbuilding, naval systems and marine services. The South African Navy will be the target client of this agreement, it was noted.

Poly Technologies and Denel also aim to take part in Operation Phakisa, the broad South African initiative to promote growth and development in the oceans economy, including maritime transport and the shipping industry.

“We are thrilled to partner with Poly Technologies,” Denel CEO Zwelakhe Ntshepe said. “There is a synergy between our two companies that will lead to a beneficial relationship and add value to our primary client, the SA Navy.”

The cooperation will be managed through Denel’s newly established division Denel Integrated Systems and Maritime.

Poly Technologies Inc. is a multinational supplier of defense equipment and solutions and is the only company tasked by the Chinese government to do research and development, manufacture, import and export defense equipment for the country’s army, navy, air force and security forces.  Denel is South Africa’s leading provider of innovative defense and security technologies in aerospace, landward defense, munitions, missiles and aerial vehicle systems.
