The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon Missile Systems a $45.39 million contract to provide logistics support for the Phalanx Close-In-Weapon System.

Under the latest contract, Raytheon is to manage the systems by furnishing repaired and new units for 1041 line items under prescribed performance metrics in response to Fleet requisitions.

The delivery order includes an 18-month performance period while work is expected to be completed by February 2018.

Phalanx is a rapid-fire, computer-controlled, radar-guided gun system designed to defeat anti-ship missiles and other close-in air and surface threats. According to Raytheon, the system is installed on all U.S. Navy surface combatant ship classes and on those of 24 allied nations.
