Royal Thai Police receives two catamaran patrol boats

Australian Marine engineering company Incat Crowther announced the delivery of Ratayapibanbancha and Arcarachwaratorn catamaran patrol boats for the Royal Thai Police.

The pair of 24 meter boats was built by the Bangkok based Seacrest Marine.

Ratayapibanbancha and Arcarachwaratorn are based on the Reef Ranger which was designed by Incat Crowther and commenced operation as a patrol boat on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef in 2014.

Ratayapibanbancha and Arcarachwaratorn will perform border protection tasks, general and long range patrol duties and transporting dignitaries.

The vessels are powered by twin MAN 12V D2862 main engines, each producing 1213kW and feature Humphree interceptors. The vessels performed well in sea trials, achieving a loaded speed of 32 knots. They are capable of a maximum speed of 34 knots and a cruise speed range of 1000 miles, Incat Crowther said.

The aft working deck houses a 4.5m fast rescue craft, forward of which is the main deck cabin. The cabin has a fully-featured galley to starboard and a wet room to port.

Upstairs are two cabins for senior officers in addition to a private living area. Below decks are a pair of cabins for additional crew, as well as equipment, pump rooms and storage spaces.

The company further said that underwater main engine exhaust outlets ensure very low ambient noise levels throughout the vessels and surrounding environment.
