Indian Goa Shipyards Ltd launched an ‘Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel’ for the Sri Lanka Navy on June 10.
The launching ceremony in Goa was attended by the secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Sri Lanka Navy commander among other dignitaries.
The 105 meter long 13.6 meter wide ship will cost $74 million when the project is over, Sri Lanka Navy said.
The vessel displaces 2350 tonnes and features a helipad. According to the navy, it can accommodate 18 officers and 100 sailors. The ship can sail 4,500 nautical miles before having to return to port.
