FGS Karlsruhe, HMS Enterprise rescue 294 in the Mediterranean

Royal Navy ship Enterprise worked with the German frigate FGS Karlsruhe on May 24 to save 294 migrants some 90 km northwest of Tripoli, Libya.

Karlsruhe pulled a total of 289 persons from two rubber boats, 95 women and four children.

The German ship additionally embarked five migrants from HMS Enterprise to provide them with medical assistance on board.

The rubber boats were identified as an obstacle to shipping and sunk.

Karlsruhe subsequently transferred the migrants to the Italian Port of Brindisi and handed them over to authorities.

The German Navy added that its sailors contributed to the rescue of 14359 people in the Central Mediterranean Sea since the Operation Sophia mission started May 7, 2015.
