BAE nabs two more US Navy vessel maintenance gigs

BAE Systems has landed another two U.S. Navy vessel maintenance contracts bringing the number of contracts for ship repairs received in May to four.

On May 25, the Naval Sea Systems Command awarded the shipbuilder one $40,6 million contract for the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Paul Hamilton and one $17,7 million contract for Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Tortuga.

The company earlier received contracts for work on the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg and the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship, USS Fort McHenry.

Works that is to be done on USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) is part of the 2016 extended dry-docking selected restricted availability which will include a combination of maintenance, modernization, and repair of the ship. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $45,380,950.

USS Tortuga (LSD 46) is to enter special selected restricted availability which will involve ship repair, maintenance, structural, habitability and ventilation repairs, ship alterations, and modernization.
