U.S. Navy’s Flight IIa Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Farragut is set to undergo drydock selected restricted availability (DSRA) repair works.
The Southeast Regional Maintenance Center, Florida, has awarded BAE Systems a $32,5 million contract for the DSRA. The contract additionally has options which, if exercised, could bring the cumulative value of this contract to $33,69 million.
The DSRA consists of structural and tank repairs, propulsion system repairs, ventilation and auxiliary systems repairs, temporary services habitability preservations, structural preservations, ship alterations, and other smaller works.
Farragut is the 49th ship of the Arleigh Burke class and the fifth Navy ship to bear the name of U.S. Navy Admiral David Farragut (1801–1870). The ship was christened on July 23, 2005, and commissioned on June 10, 2006.
The destroyer sailed for its maiden deployment in April, 2008.
