The U.S. Navy’s 6th Fleet operating in Europe and Africa has shared a video of the Virginia-class attack submarine USS Missouri leaving Scotland after a visit to the Royal Navy’s submarine base in Faslane.
The video was taken on October 30, 2015, while the submarine concluded her deployment and returned to Groton, Connecticut on February 12, 2016.
USS Missouri is the seventh Virginia-class attack submarine.
The submarine was built jointly by General Dynamics and Huntington Ingalls Industries and commissioned into service on October 3, 2004.
The 377 feet (114.8 meters) Missouri is propelled by a nuclear reactor and reaches speeds in excess of 25 knots.
It is armed with Tomahawk missiles, twelve VLS tubes (SSNs 774-783) or two VPTs (SSNs 784 and beyond), MK48 ADCAP torpedoes and four torpedo tubes.
