Cooperation between the Royal Netherlands Navy and the German Navy will continue regardless of the damage HNLMS Karel Doorman suffered, the German Navy said.
This statement comes after the Dutch defense ministry confirmed that one of two main engines on the Dutch Navy support ship HNLMS Karel Doorman broke down and needed to be replaced entirely.
It is estimated that repairs on the ship would take eight month to complete.
The cooperation will go forward as planned, the German Navy said.
According to the German Navy, the next mutual training will take place during Baltops 2016 aboard the Dutch Navy amphibious transport ship HNLMS Johan de Witt in June this year.
One of two landing platform dock (LPD) ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy, the 176-meter Johan de Witt was built by the Dutch shipbuilder Damen and was delivered to the Navy in November 2007.
