Latvian military personnel have reported spotting a Russian Kilo-class submarine within the Baltic States’ exclusive economic zone.

The National Armed Forces of Latvia wrote on Twitter, April 4, that they have identified a Russian submarine in the exclusive economic zone of 11 miles from the border of Latvia.

In the past, Latvia has repeatedly reported Russian warship presence in its waters.

Lithuania, another Baltic state, recently reported a Russian ship interfering with shipping routes within its waters.

On March 10 , an unidentified Russian Navy ship ordered Atlantic Voyager, a commercial container which was sailing in Lithuanian waters, to change route because the Russian Navy was conducting exercises in the area. The Lithuanian Navy said the container ship was sailing roughly 36 nautical miles off Klaipėda, Lithuania.
