Qatar Emiri Navy signs MoU with Nakilat for simulator training centre

Qatar Emiri Navy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatari LNG shipping company Nakilat for the establishment of a national naval centre for simulator training.

The signed MoU will also allow the Navy forces to train on board Nakilat’s fleet of vessels, the shipping company informed through social media.

The MoU was signed at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX) where Nakilat and its joint venture with Damen, the Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ), were exhibiting.

This is the second MoU for NDSQ during the exhibition as Janes reported that the joint venture signed another memorandum with the Qatar Emiri Navy for the delivery of a dive-support boat under a contract worth up to EUR42 million.

Janes also reported that the two parties had signed a MoU for a 52 m diving support ship and six patrol boats to the QENF for QAR3 billion (USD823 million) two years ago at DIMDEX 2014.
