Japanese destroyers visit Sri Lanka

Two ships of the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), JS Yuudachi and JS Yuugiri, arrived at the Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka on a goodwill and replenishment visit on March 24, 2016.

The two destroyers were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on arrival.

The ships’ Commanding Officers paid a courtesy call on the Commander Western Naval Area at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo.

Prior to their departure on March 25, the visiting Japanese ships are due to conduct a Passage Exercise with ships from the Sri Lanka Navy.

Another pair of Japanese ships, minehunters Uraga and Takashima are also visiting Indian Ocean nations. The two ships have concluded their visit to India on March 24 and are now sailing towards Bahrain.
