Colombian Navy seizes 1.17 tonnes of cocaine

Colombian Navy’s Neptuno Task Force Against Drug Trafficking joined forces with National Police and the Technical Investigation Unit of the Prosecutor’s Office – CTI to seize 1,173 kilograms of cocaine in the ​​Mulatos area, Gulf of Urabá, Colombia

On March 3 members of the ‘Neptuno’ unit detected a four-crew Go Fast vessel that set sail from a pier in Mulatos, Antioquia.

Upon seeing the authorities, the crew tried to escape by speeding up and taking the boat ashore where they unsuccessfully tried to remove the contraband from the boat, the Navy said.

Once the Colombian units reached the location, they found 50 packages of cocaine hidden inside the boat. The seized material was transported to the municipality of Necocli where the substance was tested positive for cocaine.

According to Colombian Navy, the Neptuno Task Force Against Drug Trafficking has seized 8.2 tons of cocaine so far this year. In doing so, it has prevented an estimated 270 million dollars from reaching the traffickers.
