India hosted the International Fleet Review at Visakhapatnam from February 4-8.

Australia was represented at the Review by HMAS Darwin, in company with 75 warships from 24 countries including China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, France and Japan. Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett, joined Chiefs of Navies and representatives from nearly 50 countries as dignitaries at the International Fleet Review.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a keynote address at the International Fleet Review yesterday, emphasising that a peaceful and stable maritime environment was critical for both regional and global security.

Modi said: “Given the scale and complexity of modern day challenges, international maritime stability cannot be the preserve of a single nation.”

“The presence of so many foreign Navies at this Fleet Review is a confirmation of our shared urge to walk the pathways of peace and cooperation to keep the maritime domain safe and secure.”
