IFR 2016 commences

An opening ceremony to kick start the International Fleet Review 2016 is scheduled to be held at Command Stadium, INS Satavahana in Visakhapatnam, India on Friday, February 5, 2016.

The Governor of Andhra Pradesh will be the Chief Guest for this event which will also be attended by various members of Parliament, State Ministers, Member of Legislative Assembly and Legislative council of India.

In addition, members of foreign delegations and ships from 50 countries and various dignitaries of the City of Destiny will also be in attendance.

For the first time, two ships of the Chinese (PLA) Navy, guided missile frigates Liuzhou and Sanya, will attend this event which is held once during each president’s tenure.

A total of 11,000 guests are expected to attend the function which include variant cultural performances by various renowned groups of India such as dance performance by Shiamak Davar troupe, Joe Barua Band, medley by Sameer and Abhiruchi and a performance of the Gandham group aimed at showcasing the traditional Andhra origin dance forms Kuchipudi and Dhimsa. The programme would culminate with the Sri Lankan Naval Band and dance troupe.
