Oman Navy ships arrive to India for naval exercise

A Royal Oman Navy corvette and a fast attack craft entered the Indian port of Goa, January 22. They are set to participate in the bilateral Indian, Royal Oman Navy exercise called Naseem Al Bahr in the Arabian Sea from January 22-27.

After they conclude the exercise, RNOV corvette Al-Shamikh, and fast attack craft Al-Seeb, will participate in the International Fleet Review 2016 scheduled at Visakhapatnam from 04-09 February 4 – 9.

Prior to the commitments of IFR 2016, the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman will conduct a bilateral maritime exercise Naseem Al Bahr in the Arabian Sea from January 22 – 27. The exercise was initiated in 1993 and has matured over the years with increasing scope, complexity of operations and level of participation. The current one will be the tenth such exercise.

The primary aim of this exercise is to increase interoperability amongst the two navies and develop common understanding and procedures for maritime security operations. The scope of Naseem Al Bahr 16 includes professional interactions during the Harbour Phase and operational activities at sea across the spectrum of maritime operations.

During the exercise, the Indian Navy will be represented by INS Trikand and INS Trishul. In addition, Fast Attack Craft, Maritime Patrol Aircraft and integral helicopters are scheduled to participate. The Omani Navy will be represented by the corvette RNOV Al-Shamikh, and the fast attack craft RNOV Al-Seeb.
