Russian destroyer Vice-Admiral Kulakov passes the Suez Canal

The Russian Northern Fleet anti-submarine ship made the transition from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal.

The Russian Navy said it took the ship a few hours to pass through the channel. The ship’s main objectives were to ensure safe maneuvering in conditions of heavy traffic.

The ship’s main command center, information center, navigational and electronic combat units cooperated to train and work out anti-sabotage defense and anti-terrorist procedures.

The long-distance cruise of the Udaloy-Class destroyer started October 23, under the flag of the commander of the compound anti-submarine ships of the Kola Flotilla of Diverse Forces SF Captain 1st Rank Alexander Mashinetskogo.

During this period, the ship passed more than 12 thousand miles and the crew conducted damage control exercises on the move, and anti-aircraft and anti-submarine defense drills with the embarked aircraft.

In early December, Vice-Admiral Kulakov took part in the international counter-drug exercise “Arabian monsoon-2015″ in the northern part of the Indian Ocean with the Pakistan Navy ships.
