VIDEO: HNMLS Tromp Docks in Rotterdam

The Royal Netherlands Navy’s De Zeven Provinciën-class air defence frigate HNLMS Tromp docked in Rotterdam December 9.

The frigate arrived at Rotterdam’s Wilhelmina Pier to mark the 350th anniversary of the Netherlands Marine Corps, held December 10, 2015.

The anniversary is marked by a parade which will be attended by the King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander.

Approximately two thousand former Marines, a unit of the Navy, the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, drummers and pipers and the British Royal Marines Band Service will walk along in the parade on the Coolsingel, Rotterdam.

NLMS Tromp (F803) is the second De Zeven Provinciën-class frigate of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The ship was laid down in 1999, launched in 2001, and commissioned in 2003.

The frigate is named after Dutch naval heroes Maarten Tromp (1598–1653) and Cornelis Tromp. The other two ships of the class are HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën (F802) and HNLMS De Ruyter (F804).
