After transiting the Strait of Gibraltar, U.S. Navy’s Guided-missile destroyer USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) entered the Mediterranean Sea on November 29.

Bulkeley and ships and aircraft from the Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 8, including the flagship USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) with embarked squadrons of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 28, USS Anzio (CG 68), USS Gravely (DDG 107), USS Ramage (DDG 61), and USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), departed their homeport at Norfolk Naval Station, November 16, as part of a regularly scheduled deployment.

The deployment is part of a regular rotation of forces to support maritime security operations, provide crisis response capability, increase theater security cooperation, and sustain forward naval presence in the 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Operation.
