HMS Diamond to Visit Her Home City

Royal Navy’s HMS Diamond is to return to her home city of Aberdeen this week for a four-day visit.

The Clyde-built Type 45 Destroyer, one of the Royal Navy’s newest ships, will open to the public on Saturday (November 7) from 10am to 3pm.

HMS Diamond will arrive in its affiliated port on Friday after an absence of nearly four years to engage with the community and mark Remembrance Sunday.

The Portsmouth-based destroyer has undergone extensive maintenance and improvements since it returned from operations last July.

Diamond’s captain, Commander Marcus Hember, said:

I am delighted to be bringing HMS Diamond back to Aberdeen for her first port visit since her major capability upgrade.

HMS Diamond is due to leave Aberdeen late morning next Tuesday.
