Portuguese naval vessels worked with Portuguese Air Force and other maritime services to rescue 14 crew members from a fishing vessel.

The agencies coordinated during the early hours of Oct 23, to save the people aboard the fishing vessel Segredos do Mar, which sank three miles from the port of Sesimbra, Portugal.

Another fishing vessel, Jonas David, informed the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Lisbon via radio that the Segredos do Mar was stranded near Sesimbra.

Two patrol vessels, NRP Escorpiao and NRP Figueira da Foz, along with a EH-101 helicopter from the Portuguese Air Force, were sent to assist in the rescue mission.

All 14 crew members were brought to safety without injuries.
