Mount Whitney Sails to Glenmallan, Scotland

The U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) arrived in Glenmallan, Scotland for a scheduled port visit, Oct. 17.

Command Master Chief Matt Dickinson, USS Mount Whiteny (LCC 20), said:

The Scotland visit is particularly special to the Mount Whitney crew as it marks our return to full mission capable status after more than nine months of shipyard availability.

Mount Whitney, just beginning a three-week underway period in the Atlantic Ocean, will use this port as a theater security cooperation stop and a morale booster for its crew.

While in Scotland, Mount Whitney will host distinguished guest and city officials at a dinner reception aboard the flagship, and partake in various tours.

After the crew wraps up their port visit, Mount Whitney will get underway and continue operating forward in the 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
