Authorities

Russian Navy’s first landing ship of Project 11711 Ivan Gren underwent its mooring trials at Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad.

The tests, which started on October 9, were followed by the finishing touches on the vessel’s galley. The vessel is currently being prepared to welcome its crew consisting of sailors of the Navy’s Baltic Fleet.

Ivan Gren will continue with factory trials at the Baltiysk commissioning base.

The vessel, with a displacement of 5,000-6,000 tons, able to carry up to 13 main battle tanks or 36 armoured personnel carriers or 300 marines, is expected to join the Navy’s fleet later this year.

Construction on the second ship of the class, Petr Morgunov, began in October 2014, and the vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2018.
