USS Porter Moors in Odesa, Ukraine

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) arrived in Odesa, Ukraine, for a scheduled port visit Oct. 9, 2015.

The vessel’s presence in Ukraine reaffirms to NATO allies that the U.S. Navy shares a commitment to strengthen ties while working toward mutual goals of promoting peace and stability in the Black Sea region. During the visit, Porter is scheduled to host a reception onboard for Ukrainian guests. The destroyer entered the Black Sea in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve on Oct. 6.

Porter, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on a routine patrol conducting naval operations with allies and partners in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in order to advance security and stability in Europe.
