Authorities

As part of the ongoing SEACAT 2015 exercise, the Philippine Navy and US Navy engaged in a scenario-based visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) drill.

Philippine Navy’s ship BRP Apolinario Mabini (PS32) approached the US Navy’s ship USNS Millinocket for the VBSS, where USNS Millinocket acted as the mock target vessel suspected of transporting weapons and narcotics.

The exercise is part of the ongoing annual multilateral exercise dubbed as Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) 2015.

SEACAT aims to expand information-sharing capabilities, improve interoperability among military, and law enforcement agencies in the region and provide opportunities to participating navies to gain good working experience in a multilateral environment.
