USS Ronald Reagan Arrives to Yokosuka

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) has arrived at the new homeport Fleet Activity Yokosuka, Japan, Oct. 1.

By docking at the base, USS Ronald Reagan has replaced USS George Washington (CVN 73) as America’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier. The arrival of the carrier comes at a time when Japan is actively committing to changes in its defense policy.

By enforcing new security laws, which have caused a lot of debate, Japan is trying to enhance defense ties with the US. Earlier this month, as it was about to expire, a new Agreement of the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between Japan and the United States of America was signed.
