Lockheed Martin Awarded Trident II Contract

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. received a $392 million contract modification from the US Navy for the delivery of further Trident II (D5) missiles and related support services.

The contract also includes missile production, D5 life extension development and production, and D5 deployed systems support.

Most of the work will be performed in Sunnyvale, California and Cape Canaveral, Florida, and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2020.

The Trident II D5, currently aboard Ohio-class and British Vanguard-class submarines, is the latest generation of the U.S. Navy’s submarine-launched fleet ballistic missiles, following the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident I C4 programs.

Strategic Systems Programs, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.
